Delorice Taylor Greer Webb

Delorice Taylor Greer Webb was born on June 23, 1934 to the late Henry Taylor, Sr and Minah Powell Taylor in North Hampton County, North Carolina. Delorice accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and her service to God and others has been her lifelong passion. 

Known as a lively and engaging student, Delorice was educated in the Public School System in North Carolina attaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, NC, and later studied at Columbia University in New York City, NY. Delorice’s college sweetheart was the late James D. Greer. Upon graduating from college, they were married and moved to Jersey City, New Jersey to begin their life together. God blessed them with two wonderful children, James K. Greer (deceased) and Jamice Greer Obianyo. Her constant devotion as mother to her two children was her greatest calling. 

Delorice began her career as an educator in 1960 in the New Jersey Public School system where she was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years. During her career, she was blessed to positively impact thousands of students and their families. Delorice was honored as the Teacher of the Year by the former Governor, Thomas Kean, in 1990 for her dedication, commitment and passion to serve all children she taught. She retired on July 1,1992 becoming a life time member of the National Education Association Retired Program.

In 1992, God blessed Delorice to remarry and she married the late Dr. Ercel F. Webb who was a retired pastor and former educator in the Jersey City School System. She has always been a lover of God’s Word and Delorice has built strong Christian bonds with many people throughout her life. Her service to God, her family, and the community has truly been her greatest joy. 

Delorice made her peaceful heavenly transition on May 31, 2021 while living in Woodstock, Georgia.  She is preceded in death by her husband, son, parents, and three siblings. She leaves under the watchful eye of God her Son-In-Love, Chudi Obianyo and Daughter, Jamice; Daughter-In-Love, Shonda Greer; Devoted Brother, Jonathan Taylor; six Grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a host of other treasured relatives and life-long friends.  

Delorice’s Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia 30060. Rev. Randy McClure will officiate and Rev. Albert Gallmon, Jr. is the Eulogist. Interment Service will be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at Second Baptist Potecasi Church, Potecasi, North Carolina. Rev.
