Mr. James F. Lewis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. James F. Lewis, age 68 of Savannah, Ga, who entered into his eternal rest on December 2, 2022.

A Celebration of Life for Mr. James F. Lewis will be held Monday, December 12, 2022 at 11:00 am from The Evelyn Samples Shelton Memorial Chapel of Hanley-Shelton Funeral Home.

MSgt James Floyd Lewis (68) was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Grover and Lessie Lewis on May 22, 1954 in Florence, SC. He graduated from Hamlet High School in 1972. At an early age, James joined New Bethel A.M.E. Zion Church in Hamlet, NC. 

He enlisted in the US Air Force on January 26, 1973 and achieved the rank of Master Sergeant before his retirement in 1995. Following retirement from the US Air Force, James was employed by the US Postal Service for 20 years.   He was also a past member of Trowel Lodge #29 Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts.

On June 8, 1974 he married Sandra Kay Taylor and to this union they were blessed with 3 children: Barry, Tomiya, and Tokiwa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Jean Lewis and Mary Ann Lewis. He leaves to cherish his memory Sandra Kay Lewis; children Barry (Latasha) Lewis, Tomiya Sada Lewis, and Tokiwa Shani Lewis; grandchildren, Anaya Joy Lewis & Caitlin Sinclair Lewis; sisters, Gloria (Reginald) Nance and Rhonda Moses; one aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives and friends.
