Eulogy for Peris Muriithi Grant
“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven… a time to
be born, and a time to die.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1–2
Today, we gather with heavy hearts to celebrate the beautiful life of our beloved Peris Muriithi—a cherished daughter, sister, wife, relative, colleague, and friend. While words cannot fully capture the pain of losing someone so precious, they can help us remember a life that was lived with purpose, grace, determination, and love. Peris was born on 2nd January 1988 at Mombasa Hospital in Mombasa, Kenya. She was the beloved first-born child of Job Muriithi Githinji and the late Catherine Wanjiku Muriithi. As the eldest in the family, she naturally became a source of guidance, love, and inspiration to her younger siblings—Rachael Mumbi Muriithi, Patrick Githinji Muriithi, and Eric Mbugua Muriithi. From an early age, Peris displayed remarkable intelligence, discipline, and an eagerness to learn. She began her education at Star of the Sea School in Mombasa before joining Hospital Hill School in Nairobi. She later attended St. Anne’s School, where she
completed her primary education before proceeding to St. George’s Girls Secondary School. After a year there, she transferred to Green Garden School in Kikuyu, where she
continued to excel academically. Her passion for learning continued into higher education at Daystar University, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing. Determined to broaden her knowledge and impact, she later pursued a Master’s Degree in International Business at Coventry University in the United Kingdom. Peris carried her education into a distinguished professional career. She served with excellence in various organizations, including Kenya Power, where she was known forher professionalism, leadership, and commitment to serving others. She later moved to the United States, where she continued to pursue her career in sales and client engagement, earning the respect of colleagues through her exceptional communication
skills, dedication, and ability to build meaningful relationships. Yet, beyond her academic and professional accomplishments, Peris will be remembered most for the person she was. She was kind, compassionate, thoughtful, resilient, and deeply devoted to those she loved. She had a warm smile that welcomed everyone, a
generous spirit that lifted others, and a quiet strength that carried many through difficult moments. One of the greatest joys in Peris’ life came when she met the love of her life, Christopher
Grant. Together, they built a relationship founded on love, friendship, faith, and mutual respect. Their love story blossomed into marriage, marking the beginning of a future they
eagerly anticipated together. It was a season filled with hope, excitement, and dreams of building a life as husband and wife. Just two weeks before her passing, her father, Job, traveled to the United States to celebrate this special milestone. Tragically, only days after, Peris became seriously ill and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite the tireless efforts of the medical team and the countless prayers offered by family, friends, and loved ones around the world, Peris peacefully passed away on Friday night, July 10th, at 12:02 a.m. on July 11th in the United States.
Her passing has left a void that words cannot fill. Yet even in our grief, we choose to remember the blessing that her life was rather than only the pain of her departure. Peris leaves behind a remarkable legacy. She showed us the value of education, perseverance, hard work, integrity, and unconditional love. She demonstrated courage in pursuing opportunities across continents while remaining deeply connected to her family and her roots. She touched countless lives through her kindness, encouragement, and genuine care for others. To her father, siblings, husband, extended family, friends, and colleagues: may you find comfort in knowing that Peris lived a life of purpose. Though her years with us were far too few, her impact will endure for generations. As we say goodbye, we do not do so without hope. We hold tightly to the promise that death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life for those who trust in the Lord. May we honor Peris by living with the same grace, determination, compassion, and love that she exemplified every day. Rest in eternal peace, Peris Muriithi Grant. You were deeply loved, you will be greatly missed, and you will forever remain in our hearts.
